Biography

Crystal Castles is an electronic music project that originated as producer/multi-instrumentalist Ethan Kath's solo endeavor in late 2003. The project's name was inspired by She-Ra's dwelling in the He-Man and Masters of the Universe cartoon series, as well as a 1983 Atari video game. In 2006, Kath joined forces with singer Alice Glass, solidifying the duo's lineup. Their accidental track "Alice Practice" gained attention on MySpace, leading to a limited-edition release on Merok Records. Crystal Castles went on to release self-titled albums in 2008 and 2010, followed by a more streamlined III in 2012. After Glass's departure in 2014, Kath continued the project with vocalist Edith Frances, releasing the album Amnesty in 2016.
