Formed in 2006 in Los Angeles, the Crash Kings blend the rock grandeur of Muse with the piano-driven pop of Ben Fold's Five. Led by brothers Tony Beliveau (vocal/keyboards) and Mike Beliveau (bass), the band sought to create a big rock sound sans guitars. Recruiting drummer Jason Morris, the trio crafted their distinctive sound with elements like bass fuzz and a modified clavinet, catching the attention of producer Linda Perry. Impressed by their live performance, Perry signed them to her label, Custard Records, leading to the release of their debut album in 2009 produced by Dave Sardy of Oasis fame.
