Biography

Formed in 1991, Cradle of Filth started as a black metal band but evolved to incorporate elements of gothic and symphonic metal. With international chart-topping albums like Damnation and a Day (2003) and Existence Is Futile (2021), the British extreme metal institution has undergone numerous lineup changes over the years, with vocalist Dani Filth remaining a constant presence. Their sound shifted towards a more commercial approach, as seen in successful releases like Thornography (2006) and Hammer of the Witches (2015).

Through a series of lineup changes, Cradle of Filth continued to refine their sound and stage theatrics over the years. With albums like Dusk and Her Embrace (1996) and Nymphetamine (2004), the band established a strong cult following known for their elaborate live performances. Following the release of their 13th album, Existence Is Futile, in 2021, the group faced the loss of former guitarist Stuart Antsis, who passed away in 2022. Recorded with longtime collaborator Scott Atkins, the album explores themes of existential dread and marked the band's first release featuring new keyboardist/backing vocalist Anabelle Iratni.
