Coralie Clément, influenced by '60s French pop vocalists like Jane Birkin and Francoise Hardy with a touch of bossa nova from Astrud Gilberto, released her debut album, Salle des Pas Perdus, in 2002. The album, a collaboration with her brother Benjamin Biolay, features 12 songs written and arranged by him. Despite growing up in a musical household and being skilled in various instruments from a young age, Coralie initially did not see herself as a singer. However, after learning her brother's compositions and reinterpreting them with her own style, she eventually recorded her first album during an informal session with Biolay in Paris.

Coralie Clément's musical journey began in Villefranche-sur-Saone, France, where she developed a deep appreciation for artists like Serge Gainsbourg, Jane Birkin, and the Beatles. Raised in a family of musicians, she honed her musical talents early on and eventually found her voice as a singer through her brother's compositions. By infusing his poetic ballads with her unique blend of sensuality and playfulness, Coralie discovered her own artistic identity, leading to the creation of her debut album under the guidance of Benjamin Biolay.
