Connie, a Latina singer born Consuelo Piriz on July 30, 1964, rose to fame with her 1985 club hit "Funky Little Beat," a significant track in the Latin freestyle genre that blends dance-pop with Latin elements. Though not as widely recognized as some of her peers like Exposé or the Cover Girls, Connie's debut single made waves in the club scene and has since become a classic in freestyle/electro compilations. Over the years, she continued to release music, including her self-titled debut album and the follow-up "Experience," before taking a hiatus in the '90s to focus on family.
