Biography
Collin Raye, born Floyd Collin Wray in De Queen, Arkansas, in 1960, began his musical journey performing with his mother, a local singer. He later formed the Wray Brothers Band and eventually signed with Epic in 1990, releasing his debut album "All I Can Be" in 1991. Raye's poignant ballad "Love, Me" catapulted him to stardom in 1992, leading to a string of Country number one hits in the '90s. His storytelling prowess and softer musical approach resonated with audiences, allowing him to seamlessly transition into contemporary Christian music while continuing to release country albums like "Never Going Back" and "Scars."
Raye's chart-topping success continued with albums like "In This Life" and "Extremes" in the mid-'90s, showcasing his versatility as a singer-songwriter. Despite a brief slowdown in the late '90s, Raye returned with hits like "I Can Still Feel You" and explored new territory with projects like the children's album "Counting Sheep." Though facing some sales challenges in the early 2000s, Raye remained dedicated to his craft, releasing albums like "Tracks" and "Twenty Years and Change." His enduring career highlights his ability to connect with audiences through heartfelt storytelling and timeless melodies, solidifying his place in country music history.
