Elizabeth Harper transitioned from being a coffeehouse singer/songwriter to focusing on electronic music in 2009, collaborating with producers Mark Richardson and Scott Rosenthal. Together, they formed Class Actress, blending Harper's pop songs with sampled drumbeats and synthesized instruments. The electro-pop group made their debut with the EP Journal of Ardency in 2010, drawing inspiration from artists like Madonna and Depeche Mode. After signing with Carpark Records, Class Actress released their first album, Rapprocher, in 2011. Despite delays, they eventually released their EP Movies in 2015 under Casablanca Records, showcasing Harper's evolution in the music industry.
