Biography
Originating from Cape Town, Africa, alt-rock group Civil Twilight, likened to Muse and Pilot Speed, was formed by brothers Andrew and Steven McKellar. The band began in 1996 when Andrew, along with guitarist Richard Wouters, discovered Steven's vocal and songwriting talents. After honing their sound in local venues, Civil Twilight relocated to Los Angeles in 2005, signing with indie label One October to release their debut album, Human, in 2007. Their music gained traction through television placements before transitioning to Wind-Up Records for their self-titled second album. By touring with acts like Evanescence and Three Days Grace and playing notable festivals like Bonnaroo, the band expanded their fan base and evolved artistically. Their third album, Holy Weather, released in 2012, was influenced by their touring experiences and introduced new member Kevin Dailey. In 2015, Civil Twilight released their LP "Story of an Immigrant," led by the single of the same name.
