City High

City High, a hip-hop/R&B group from Willingboro, NJ, was formed when Wyclef Jean invited 18-year-old rapper and singer Claudette Ortiz to join Toby Ryan and Robby Pardlo. The trio, who all have backgrounds in acting and producing, released their self-titled debut album in 2001 under Booga Basement/Interscope Records. Robby Pardlo, known for his piano skills and songwriting, was the first member of City High and helped establish the group's unique sound. Their music often delves into poignant themes relevant to youth experiences, with the trio writing and co-producing most of their songs. Ryan Toby, who starred in Sister Act 2 as a child and later produced for artists like Will Smith, adds to the group's diverse talents and influences.
