Founded in 1988 by James C. Chambers, the Chicago Mass Choir originated from the renowned Ecclesiastes Community Choir. Their debut album, Right Now If You Believe, was released in 1991, garnering the group Best New Artist recognition at the Gospel Music Excellence awards. Throughout the 1990s, the choir continued to produce acclaimed albums such as Call Him Up and Please Don't Leave Me, with hits like "I Can Go to the Rock" and "I'm So Grateful." The 2000s saw the release of several live recordings, including the chart-topping Calling on You: Live in 2001, while the 2010s brought the success of XV: Live in 2011, marking their 13th album to chart on Billboard's Top Gospel Albums.
