Charles, a transcendent singer, overcame adversity to achieve international acclaim late in life. He believed in love's power to heal the world's pain, expressed through his passionate performances and caring nature. His legacy lives on through his music and the impact he made on those around him.

Despite releasing his first album in 2011, Charles Bradley's journey with Daptone Records began a decade earlier when he impressed co-founders Gabriel Roth and Neal Sugarman with his James Brown cover act. Collaborating with producer Tom Brenneck, Bradley released several albums before his passing in 2017. His final album, "Black Velvet," serves as a tribute to his remarkable life and enduring spirit.
