Chamber Orchestra of Europe

Founded in 1981 by musicians from the European Community Youth Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe (COE) consists of approximately 60 members who are active in various musical pursuits. The COE's collaborations with esteemed conductors and soloists, particularly Claudio Abbado and Nikolaus Harnoncourt, have been pivotal to its development, while current partnerships with Sir András Schiff and Yannick Nézet-Séguin continue to shape its musical journey. The COE has established strong ties with major European festivals and venues, earning critical acclaim with over 250 recorded works, including two Grammy Awards and three Gramophone Record of the Year accolades.

Renowned for its exceptional musicianship, the COE serves as the orchestra-in-residence at esteemed institutions like the Kronberg Academy's Casals Forum and the Esterhazy Palace in Eisenstadt. As a private orchestra, the COE relies on financial support from the Gatsby Charitable Foundation and dedicated Friends to sustain its artistic endeavors and continue its legacy of musical excellence.
