Chad Smith

In 2009, drummer Chad Smith was notably active, playing with supergroup Chickenfoot and also contributing to the Red Hot Chili Peppers' tenth studio album. Amidst these projects, Smith launched his own instrumental band, Chad Smith's Bombastic Meatbats, formed through his friendship with bassist/singer Glenn Hughes. The band released their debut album, Meet the Meatbats, in September 2009, showcasing a funk-jazz-fusion sound reminiscent of Billy Preston and Return to Forever. Despite limited touring due to Smith's commitments, the Meatbats regrouped for More Meat in 2010 and released a live album in 2012.

Chad Smith's 2009 was marked by his involvement in multiple musical projects, including Chickenfoot and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, as well as the formation of his instrumental band, the Bombastic Meatbats.
