Biography

Cave In's 2019 album, Final Transmission, marked a poignant moment for the band following the passing of their bassist Caleb Scofield. The album was completed with the assistance of friend Nate Newton, signifying the end of an era. Now, with their new release, Heavy Pendulum, featuring Newton on bass and vocals alongside original members, Cave In returns to the studio for their first proper recording since 2009's Planets Of Old. Recorded with producer Kurt Ballou at God City in 2021, Heavy Pendulum fulfills Scofield's vision of creating another Cave In record, marking a significant reunion with the producer since their 1998 debut.

The album also holds sentimental value as it signifies Cave In's first recording at the current God City location, a departure from their original recording site in Allston, MA, for Until Your Heart Stops. Brodsky reflects on the unique experience of having all members record together at the Salem location, a first for the band despite individual collaborations with Ballou in the past. With Heavy Pendulum, Cave In pays homage to their roots while embarking on a new chapter in their musical journey.
