Cassius, composed of French producers Philippe Zdar and Hubert Blanc-Francart, emerged in 1996 after collaborating on various projects including Mo' Wax releases as La Funk Mob and an LP with MC Solaar. Their debut single "Cassius 1999" in 1998 was a hit, leading to their first album, 1999. Cassius continued their success with subsequent albums Au Rêve in 2002 and 15 Again in 2006 before going on a hiatus. Zdar stayed active in music production and remixes during this period. In 2016, Cassius returned with "Action," featuring Cat Power and the Beastie Boys' Mike D, as part of their album Ibifornia. Tragically, Philippe Zdar passed away in 2019.
