Carl Douglas

Carl Douglas, known for his disco hit "Kung Fu Fighting," made history as the first Jamaican-born artist to reach number one in the U.S. music charts. Raised in California and Jamaica, Douglas later moved to England to study sound engineering. After collaborating with various bands and producers, he gained fame with "Kung Fu Fighting," a song inspired by the martial arts craze of the 1970s. Despite being labeled a novelty act, Douglas continued to release music and found success with subsequent singles in the U.K. He later established a production company in Hamburg, Germany, supplying music for films and advertisements.
