Biography

Formed in 1995 by Matt Brooke and Jenn Ghetto in Seattle, Carissa's Wierd gained attention for their poignant vocals and unique indie rock sound. The band, which included members like Ben Bridwell and Jeff Hellis, released albums like Ugly But Honest and You Should Be at Home Here before disbanding in 2003. Following their breakup, Ghetto pursued a solo project while Brooke and Bridwell found success with Band of Horses. Posthumous releases of Carissa's Wierd's music were issued by Sad Robots Records and a compilation was released by Hardly Art in 2010.

Carissa's Wierd's impact on the Pacific Northwest music scene was felt through their releases and performances at Seattle clubs. Recording with Chris Walla at Hall of Justice Studio, the band's legend grew until their breakup after a cross-country tour. Ghetto's solo project, S, and Brooke's Grand Archives marked new musical directions for the former band members, while Bridwell went on to achieve success with Band of Horses. Posthumous releases and compilations of Carissa's Wierd's work continued to be released in the years following their disbandment.
