Buraka Som Sistema

Buraka Som Sistema's journey to becoming the global ambassadors of Angolan dance music, kuduro, was a gradual process that started in the early 2000s. The trio of LilJohn, Riot, and Kalaf had been collaborating since their days in the Cooltrain Crew and later as part of the nu-jazz band One Week Project. In 2006, they officially formed Buraka Som Sistema, sparking immediate interest with their club nights and the release of their debut EP, "From Buraka to the World," in 2007.

The group's momentum skyrocketed with the release of the single "Yah/Sem Makas," which caught the attention of international club DJs and music enthusiasts. Their debut album, "Black Diamond," dropped in 2008, solidifying their status as a rising force in the global music scene with a blend of kuduro and electronic sounds that garnered widespread acclaim.
