Biography

Formed on February 11, 1996, in Sakura, Chiba Prefecture, BUMP OF CHICKEN consists of members Fujiwara Motoo (vocals/guitar), Masukawa Hiroaki (guitar), Naoi Yoshifumi (bass), and Masu Hideo (drums). The band released two albums independently before making their major debut in September 2000 with the single "Diamond." Known for hits like "Tenso Kansoku," they have contributed theme songs to various anime, dramas, and films, including collaborations with Hatsune Miku on "ray" and the Pokémon special music video theme song "Acacia." BUMP OF CHICKEN has embarked on successful tours, including their first stadium tour in 2016 and a dome tour in 2019 that drew 350,000 attendees.

In 2021, their song "Nanairo" was chosen as the theme song for NHK's TV drama "Okaeri Mone" and they performed at the 72nd NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen. In 2022, their track "Chronostasis" was featured as the theme song for the film "Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween," and "SOUVENIR" was selected as the opening theme for the second season of the anime "SPY x FAMILY." The band released their 10th full album, "Iris," in September 2024, marking their first album in about five years since "aurora arc" in July 2019. They also kicked off a dome tour, "BUMP OF CHICKEN TOUR 2024 Sphery Rendezvous," in the same month following the album release.
