Brick

Atlanta band Brick pioneered the fusion of disco and jazz in the '70s, coining the term "dazz." Their lineup featured multi-talented musicians such as Jimmy Brown, Regi Hargis Hickman, Ray Ransom, and Eddie Irons. Brick's breakout hit "Dazz" topped the charts in 1976, followed by successful singles like "Dusic" and "Ain't Gonna' Hurt Nobody." The band's final album with Bang, "After 5," was released in 1982 before they disbanded, later regrouping for albums like "Too Tuff" in 1988. Regrettably, guitarist Regi Hargis Hickman passed away in October 2021 at the age of 70, leaving behind a legacy of innovative music.

Brick's career included collaborations with artists like Ray Parker Jr., resulting in hits such as "Sweat ('Til You Get Wet)." Despite their disbandment after the release of "Too Tuff," the band continued under the management of Adulari Entertainment. Brick's unique sound and infectious grooves cemented their status as pioneers of the "dazz" genre, blending elements of funk, jazz, and disco. Their impact on the music industry remains evident through their chart-topping hits and enduring influence on subsequent generations of musicians.
