Biography

Atlanta-born, Detroit-raised rapper Boldy James is known for his gritty rhymes set to cinematic beats crafted by producers such as The Alchemist and Sterling Toles. Born James Clay Jones III, he adopted the moniker "Boldy" in honor of a late friend who went by the same name. James gained recognition in 2009 with placements on The Cool Kids and Don Cannon's mixtape, Merry Christmas, and later collaborated with The Alchemist on his debut album, My 1st Chemistry Set. Continuing his successful partnership with The Alchemist, Boldy James released the EP Boldface and the acclaimed album The Price of Tea in China in 2019, followed by the collaborative project Manger on McNichols with Sterling Toles in 2020. The same year, he joined forces with the Griselda collective and dropped The Versace Tape, solidifying his status as a rising force in the rap scene.
