Blixa Bargeld, a key figure in avant-garde rock, co-founded the industrial band Einstürzende Neubauten and collaborated with Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds. Born Christian Emmerich in Berlin, Germany in 1959, Bargeld's musical journey began with tape manipulation and evolved into a unique style using unconventional instruments like scrap metal and power tools. He later delved into composing for theater and released his first solo album, Commissioned Music, in 1995.

Bargeld's diverse career expanded to acting in films, scoring for various projects, and collaborations with musicians like Alva Noto and Teho Teardo. He left the Bad Seeds in 2003 to focus on solo work and Einstürzende Neubauten, who adopted a fan-funded model for recording and releasing music. In 2014, Einstürzende Neubauten released the concept album Lament and embarked on a European tour, showcasing their evolution from noise pioneers to artful musicians.
