Biography

In the early 1980s, Neil Arthur and Stephen Luscombe formed Blancmange and achieved success in the synth-pop scene with hits influenced by Can and Captain Beefheart. However, by 1985, the duo struggled with creative fatigue, leading Neil to realize his desire to step away from music during a Greenpeace concert at the Royal Albert Hall in 1986.

Despite a period of separation, Neil and Stephen eventually reunited after 25 years to release the revitalizing album 'Blanc Burn' in 2011, showcasing a return to Blancmange’s original energy with a modern touch. Following Stephen's departure due to health reasons, Neil continued to explore his musical talents through various projects like Fader and Near Future, embracing a newfound fearlessness in his creative pursuits.
