Biography
Biting Elbows is a Moscow-based band formed in 2008 by film director Ilya Naishuller and drummer Ilya Kondratiev. The band navigates between energetic post-punk and introspective indie, refusing to be confined to a single genre. Their breakout moment came with the release of the action-packed music video for "Bad Motherfucker," shot from a first-person perspective, which won a prestigious London International Award and inspired the creation of the film "Hardcore," for which Biting Elbows provided the soundtrack.
The band has gained widespread recognition through performances as special guests at concerts in Moscow by Placebo and Guns N' Roses, as well as appearances at festivals like Park Live, Maxidrom, Quicksilver New Star, and the YouTube Music Awards. Biting Elbows consistently draw packed crowds in Russia and abroad, delivering high-energy punk rock performances. Their second full-length album, "Shorten The Longing," released on June 26, 2020, after four years of work during breaks from filmmaking, features 13 tracks with three previously released singles accompanied by striking music videos. According to lead vocalist Ilya Naishuller, the album serves as a sort of diary of experiences and emotions.
