Billy Paul

Billy Paul, a Philadelphia native born in 1935, began his music career in the '50s and gained recognition as an R&B vocalist in the '70s. He achieved chart success with hits like "Me and Mrs. Jones" in 1972 and "Thanks for Saving My Life" in 1974. Paul continued performing and recording until his retirement in 1989, making occasional appearances at club dates both in the U.S. and overseas. He passed away in April 2016 at the age of 80.

Despite his early start in the music industry, Billy Paul's breakthrough came in the '70s when he signed with Philadelphia International and produced his biggest hits. His soulful vocals and jazz background, having collaborated with notable artists like Dinah Washington and Miles Davis, contributed to his distinct sound.
