Biography

Formed in 1991 as Betrayer, Austrian blackened death metal band Belphegor, led by Helmuth Lehnerl, released their debut album, The Last Supper, in 1995. Renowned for their Satanic themes, their subsequent albums like Walpurgis Rites: Hexenwahn (2008) and Totenritual (2017) achieved international success. Their 12th studio album, Devils, was released in 2022.

Belphegor, originally founded by Maxx in 1991, changed their name and lineup before the release of The Last Supper in 1995. With a shift to more extreme themes, albums like Bondage Goat Zombie (2008) and Conjuring the Dead (2014) gained critical acclaim and chart success. Their latest release, Devils, continues their legacy of brutal and uncompromising blackened death metal.
