Biography

Emerging from Swansea, Wales in the early 1960s, Badfinger, originally known as the Iveys, honed their pop, R&B, and rock sound before catching the attention of the Beatles and landing a deal with Apple Records. Renamed Badfinger, the band found success with hits like "Come and Get It" and "Day After Day," showcasing their knack for crafting melodic, guitar-driven songs. However, financial troubles at Apple Records and predatory business deals led to a tragic downfall for the group, culminating in the suicide of founding member Pete Ham in 1975 and the band's eventual dissolution.

Following Badfinger's disbandment, members pursued various musical endeavors with limited success, marked by lineup changes and legal battles over royalties. Despite ongoing challenges, Joey Molland continued to tour under the Badfinger name, releasing live recordings and compilations of the band's Apple and Warner Bros. material. In 2023, Cleopatra Records released a reimagined collection of Badfinger hits featuring Molland and guest artists, paying tribute to the enduring legacy of the group amidst their tumultuous history.
