Armand Amar

Armand Amar, a Paris-based composer born in Jerusalem in 1953 and raised in Morocco, is renowned for his film scores and dance compositions. Self-educated in European classical music and traditional African and Middle Eastern styles, Amar's fascination with the connection between music and physical performance led to collaborations with renowned dance troupes, filmmakers, and artists. In 2002, he gained widespread recognition for his score for Costa Gavras' film Amen, marking the beginning of a prolific career in film soundtracks. Alongside his composing and performing, Amar co-founded the record label Long Distance, specializing in world music and classical works.
