Biography

Born in Mexico City in 1971, Antonio Sanchéz began his drumming career at age five and later pursued classical piano studies at the National Conservatory of Music in Mexico. After graduating from Berklee College of Music in jazz studies, he became a prominent figure in the international jazz scene upon moving to New York City in 1999. Sanchéz has collaborated with jazz legends such as Pat Metheny, Chick Corea, and Michael Brecker, while also serving as a faculty member at New York University and participating in various drum festivals worldwide.

As a solo artist, Sanchéz has released several albums, including "Migration," "Element," and "New Life," showcasing his unique blend of jazz and electronic influences. His work on the soundtrack for the film "Birdman" earned critical acclaim, despite being controversially disqualified for an Academy Award nomination. Sanchéz continues to push boundaries with his solo projects, most notably with his album "Bad Hombre," and his ensemble Migration's album "Lines in the Sand," which reached the Top 20 of the Billboard Jazz Albums chart.
