In 2005, pop-punk band blink-182 went on hiatus, leading to the formation of side projects +44 and Angels & Airwaves. Fronted by Tom DeLonge, Angels & Airwaves debuted in 2006 with We Don't Need to Whisper. Over the years, DeLonge officially parted ways with blink-182 and Angels & Airwaves evolved into a prominent act, releasing several albums including Love and The Dream Walker.

Following the blink-182 hiatus in 2005, Tom DeLonge introduced Angels & Airwaves, aiming for a revolutionary sound inspired by bands like U2 and Pink Floyd. The band's debut album, We Don't Need to Whisper, garnered mixed reviews but achieved gold status. Subsequent albums like I-Empire and Love followed, alongside lineup changes. By 2021, Angels & Airwaves had released their sixth album, Lifeforms, marking their continued evolution in the music scene.
