Ana Torroja rose to fame as the lead vocalist of the successful Spanish pop band Mecano in the '80s and '90s, selling over 25 million albums worldwide. After Mecano took a break in 1993, Torroja pursued a solo career that gained momentum in the late '90s.

Born in Madrid in 1959, Torroja initially focused on academics but found her musical calling when she met José María Cano at university. Together with Cano's brother Nacho, they formed Mecano in 1981. Torroja later released her solo debut album in 1997 and continued her music journey with collaborations that fused traditional Spanish music with modern pop influences.
