Alex Bugnon, a contemporary jazz keyboard player and nephew of trumpeter Donald Byrd, honed his craft by attending the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland and studying at the Paris Conservatory of Music before relocating to the U.S. to attend Berklee School of Music. After establishing himself as a session musician in New York, Bugnon signed to Orpheus Records and released his debut album, Love Season, in 1989, which reached the pop and R&B charts. Subsequent releases, including Head Over Heels (1990) and Tales From the Bright Side (1995), continued to chart in the R&B genre. After a hiatus, Bugnon returned to the music scene with the jazz division of Narada Records, achieving success with albums like Alex Bugnon...As Promised and Soul Purpose.
