Biography
8Ball and MJG, iconic Southern rap pioneers from Memphis, rose to prominence in the '90s with hits like "Space Age Pimpin'" and milestone albums Comin' Out Hard (1994) and In Our Lifetime, Vol. 1 (1999). Despite never achieving mainstream success, the duo's consistent output and influential sound earned them a loyal regional following and industry respect. After a successful run with Suave Records, they later signed with Bad Boy Records and released their most commercially successful album, Living Legends (2004), featuring the hit single "You Don't Want Drama."
Hailing from the tough Orange Mound area of Memphis, Eightball and MJG formed their duo in the '80s and gained recognition with their debut full-length, Comin' Out Hard (1993), on Suave Records. Over the years, they collaborated on several albums and solo projects, showcasing their talent and influence on the Southern rap scene. Despite label changes and industry challenges, 8Ball and MJG persevered, leaving a lasting legacy in the rap world and continuing to release music into the 2010s.
