Zay Hilfigerrr, born Tyjuan Peoples, began his music journey by sharing rap, dance, and comedy videos on social media platforms. His stage name pays homage to Tommy Hilfiger, with "Zay" being a self-given moniker.
Collaborating with local film producer Timothy McCall, known as Zayion, Hilfigerrr co-created the track "Juju on That Beat," drawing inspiration from Crime Mob's "Knuck If You Buck." The song gained traction when Fresh the Clowns dancers started posting videos of themselves dancing to it online, leading Atlantic Records to officially release it in 2016. The track peaked at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, accumulating 150 million YouTube streams by February 2017 and earning a Kids' Choice Award nomination for Favorite Music Video. Initially clocking in at 2:02, the song's reissue by Atlantic Records extended its length to 2:23.
