Biography

Yndio, also known as Grupo Yndio, is a Mexican pop group that emerged from Sonora in 1972. Formed by former members of Los Pulpos, the band gained recognition for their grupero ranchera style covers of American soft rock and pop ballads. From 1973 to 1986, Yndio released seven albums with Polygram, achieving several Top Ten hits in Mexico with covers of popular songs by artists like Nazareth, ELO, and Paul Young. In 1985, their album "Adios" reached the Top Five on the Mexican Regional albums chart. Moving to Philips Colombia in 1987, the band continued to produce successful albums like "Dame un Beso" and "Dime Adi├│s," both of which went gold.

Known for their extensive touring schedule, Yndio performed hundreds of concerts annually across North and South America. Throughout the '90s, the band released singles under labels like Prodisc and Joey International to support their touring endeavors. Despite slimming down to a quintet in 2007, Yndio maintained their original lineup and continued to be featured on compilations by Universal's Fonovisa label. Their music has been celebrated on various releases, including the 2017 compilation "Historia Grupera" alongside tracks from other renowned groups in the genre.
