Biography

Velvet Revolver was formed in spring 2002 by ex-Guns N' Roses bandmates Slash (guitar), Duff McKagan (bass), and Matt Sorum (drums). After auditioning several singers, Scott Weiland joined as the lead vocalist. The band released their debut album, Contraband, in June 2004, which was well-received for its blend of STP and GNR influences. Their second album, Libertad, followed in 2007.

In December 2015, Scott Weiland passed away while on tour with his band, the Wildabouts, in Bloomington, Minnesota.
