Umm Kulthum

Umm Kulthum, the renowned Egyptian vocalist, garnered immense admiration and respect, as evidenced by the millions of mourners who lined the streets of Cairo upon her passing. Born in Tamay al-Zahayrah, she honed her musical talents under the guidance of mentors like Al-Shaykh Abu al-Ila Muhammed and poet Ahmad Rami. Despite initial skepticism about her abilities, Kulthum's dedication to her craft and collaboration with esteemed composers like Muhammad al-Wahab solidified her position as a leading figure in Egyptian music.
