Biography
Johan van Roy, the Belgian pioneer of electro-industrial music, launched Suicide Commando as a one-man band in 1986, quickly becoming a genre figurehead. His early releases on Off Beat Records garnered club hits, leading to a larger following and successful tours. Van Roy's signature sound, characterized by sinister melodies and harsh vocals over mechanistic beats, influenced countless artists and evolved into the "hellektro" or "aggrotech" style, showcased on albums like Mindstrip (2000) and Bind, Torture, Kill (2006).
Transitioning to Out of Line Records, van Roy's sound expanded into a more symphonic style, evident on releases like Implements of Hell (2010) and Forest of the Impaled (2017), which achieved commercial success.
