Biography

Saint Vitus, a pioneering American doom and sludge metal band, rose to prominence in the 1980s alongside influential acts like Pentagram, Trouble, and Witchfinder General. Drawing inspiration from Black Sabbath, they released several acclaimed albums before disbanding in 1996. However, the group regrouped in 2012 to release their long-awaited eighth studio album, Lillie: F-65, followed by a self-titled LP in 2019.

Originally named Tyrant, Saint Vitus was formed in 1979 in Los Angeles and quickly became known for their slow, heavy sound reminiscent of Black Sabbath. Despite lineup changes and label transitions, the band continued to evolve, culminating in their resurgence in the 2000s with new music releases and tours. With a mix of veteran members and fresh talent, Saint Vitus remains a steadfast force in the metal scene, honoring their legacy while forging ahead with new music.
