Born in Samsun in 1978, Sagopa Kajmer, originally named Yunus Özyavuz, was exposed to various musical cultures from a young age through his family. In the early 1990s, he began his professional music career as a DJ at a local radio station in Samsun with the emergence of private radios in Turkey. Graduating from Istanbul University with a degree in Persian Language and Literature, Sagopa Kajmer worked as a DJ and music director at several prominent radio stations, gaining recognition for his production skills and becoming one of the most important figures in Turkish rap history by 1998.
Founding the Kuvvetmira group and initially working under the alias Silahs─▒z Kuvvet, Sagopa Kajmer later continued his career under his own name, producing numerous Turkish rap classics. His work on the soundtrack of the 2004 film "G.O.R.A" brought him widespread acclaim. Since 2005, he has continued his music career under his own Melankolia M├╝zik label, making significant contributions to Turkish rap through his production of multiple albums, hundreds of songs, and the introduction of new MCs to the scene. Sagopa Kajmer is recognized as one of the most prolific figures in Turkish music across all genres.
