Biography

In 1977, Danish musicians Uffe Savery and Morten Friis met while part of the Tivoli Garden Boys' Guard before studying at the Royal Danish Conservatory of Music. They formed Safri Duo, an experimental project, and were signed by Universal Denmark in 1999 to create a dance/club record blending traditional ethnic and modern instruments. The duo gained international success with the hit "Played-A-Live (The Bongo Song)," winning a Danish Music Award for Best Danish Club Hit in 2001.
