Sacred Reich, a politically charged American thrash metal band from Phoenix, Arizona, emerged as a prominent force in the late 1980s alongside peers like Testament and Death Angel. Known for their blend of social commentary and aggressive sound, the band released notable albums such as Ignorance (1987) and The American Way (1990) before disbanding in 2000. However, they made a triumphant return in 2019 with Awakening, their fifth studio album released under Metal Blade Records, following a series of live performances and lineup changes over the years.

Led by bassist/vocalist Phil Rind, Sacred Reich formed in 1985 and quickly gained recognition for their politically charged lyrics and intense musical style. Throughout the late '80s and '90s, the band continued to push boundaries with releases like Independent (1993) and Heal (1996), featuring a mix of speed metal and groove-oriented tracks. Despite a brief hiatus, Sacred Reich regrouped in the mid-2000s for live shows and eventually returned to the studio to deliver Awakening in 2019, solidifying their status as a key player in the thrash metal scene.
