For over five decades, the pioneering Mexican norteño group Ramón Ayala y Sus Bravos del Norte has brought the genre from cantinas to the mainstream. Ramón Ayala, an accomplished accordion player, and Cornelio Reyna founded the groundbreaking Los Relámpagos del Norte in 1961, leading to the formation of Los Bravos del Norte after the former's disbandment in 1971. With a discography exceeding 100 albums, their collaborations have yielded chart-topping success, including the 1991 split LP <i>Arriba El Norte Y Arriba El Sur</i> with Vicente Fernández.
Ramón Ayala y Sus Bravos del Norte boast a remarkable collection of achievements, including 12 Platinum albums and two Latin Grammy-winning LPs: 2000’s <i>Quémame Los Ojos</i> and 2002’s <i>El Numero 100</i>. With nine Grammy Award nominations under their belt, the group secured a win for the 2001 live album <i>En Vivo...El Hombre Y Su Música</i>, recognized as the Best Mexican/Mexican-American Album.
