South Korean boy band Pentagon was formed in 2016 by Cube Entertainment. The ten-piece group was created through Mnet's competition show Pentagon Maker and consists of Korean members Jinho Cho, Hui, Hongseok Yang, E'Dawn, Shinwon Koh, Yeo One, Kino, and Wooseok Jung, along with Chinese member Yan An and Japanese member Yuto Adachi.
Pentagon's debut EP was released in October 2016, reaching number seven on the Gaon chart. Subsequent releases, including their sophomore EP Five Senses and the Japanese EP Gorilla, achieved chart success in both Korea and Japan. In 2018, they continued to release music, with Positive becoming their highest-selling Korean EP. Despite lineup changes, Pentagon continued to release music, with hits like "Sha La La" from their 2019 album Genie:us.
