Biography
Paul Davis, a Mississippi singer and songwriter, is best known for his hit singles "I Go Crazy" in the '70s and '80s, blending country and Southern soul influences. Born in Meridian, Mississippi in 1948, Davis began his music career playing in local bands before signing as a staff songwriter with Malaco Records in 1968. He achieved success with singles like "A Little Bit of Soap" before his breakthrough hit "I Go Crazy" in 1977 from the album Singer of Songs -- Teller of Tales.
After his chart-topping success, Davis released several albums, including the popular Cool Night in 1982, before stepping back from performing after a robbery incident in 1986. He continued songwriting and recording new material until his passing from a heart attack in 2008. Paul Davis left a lasting legacy in the music industry with his distinctive blend of country and soul influences.
