Originating in Charlottesville, Virginia, Parachute, previously known as Sparky's Flaw, emerged as a dynamic pop/rock group blending funk and contemporary blue-eyed soul. The band, formed by high school students, gained local popularity and caught the attention of Red Light Management before signing with Smash Records and releasing their debut EP, "One Small Step," in 2005. Transitioning to Parachute, the band released their major-label debut, "Losing Sleep," in 2009, which peaked at number 40 on the Billboard charts. With subsequent albums like "The Way It Was" in 2011 and "Overnight" in 2013, Parachute solidified their place in the pop music scene, despite lineup changes that led to a trio formation for their fourth LP, "Wide Awake," released in 2016.
