Pale Saints, a British band formed in 1987, skillfully blended influences from West Coast psychedelia, the paisley underground, and C-86 to create their distinctive dream pop sound. Their albums, including The Comforts of Madness (1990) and In Ribbons (1992), gained critical acclaim and chart success, with lasting impact that led to reissues for their 30th anniversaries. The band's lineup evolved over the years, with member departures and replacements, culminating in their final LP, Slow Buildings, released in 1994 before their official split in 1996.
Following the dissolution of Pale Saints, band members pursued various musical endeavors, with guitarist Meriel Barham recording as Kuchen and other members engaging in different projects. In 2020, 4AD released a remastered 30th anniversary edition of The Comforts of Madness, with additional demos and a Peel session. A similar edition for In Ribbons followed in 2023, featuring bonus content from the original release. The legacy of Pale Saints continues to be celebrated through these reissues and the ongoing musical pursuits of its former members.
