Os Originais do Samba, known for their blend of traditional samba and humor, achieved commercial success with hits like "Tá Chegando Fevereiro" and "Esperanças Perdidas," earning three gold records. They collaborated with artists such as Elis Regina and Duke Ellington, and were the first samba group to perform at the Olympia in Paris. The group formed in 1960 as Os Sete Modernos do Samba before adopting the name Os Originais do Samba in 1961, eventually releasing 19 albums by 1997.
Led by Bigode and featuring talents like Zeca do Cavaco and Sócrates, Os Originais do Samba enjoyed success both in Brazil and abroad, performing at prestigious venues like the Carnaval Friends of Brazil Club in San Francisco.
