Biography

Neil Sedaka, known for his dual success as a teen pop star in the late '50s and early '60s, and later as a mature pop/rock singer in the '70s, composed his own hits and penned songs for a multitude of artists. His chart-topping singles included "Breaking Up Is Hard to Do," "Laughter in the Rain," and "Bad Blood," as well as the popular composition "Love Will Keep Us Together." Sedaka's talent extended beyond his own recordings, with his songs covered by a wide array of artists across various genres, including ABBA, Elvis Presley, and the Carpenters, among many others.

Born in Brooklyn in 1939, Sedaka displayed musical aptitude early on and began studying piano at a young age. His partnership with lyricist Howard Greenfield led to numerous hit compositions, including "Stupid Cupid" for Connie Francis and "Where the Boys Are." Despite career ups and downs, Sedaka's enduring legacy includes his successful reinvention in the '70s, marked by hits like "Laughter in the Rain" and "Bad Blood." His extensive catalogue and continued live performances solidified his status as a celebrated figure in music history.
