Formed by SM Entertainment, K-pop group NCT ("Neo Culture Technology") features multiple members divided into sub-units across international locations like Tokyo, Beijing, Shanghai, and Bangkok. NCT U, the first spinoff, was introduced in April 2016, releasing singles such as "The 7th Sense" and "Without You." In 2018, NCT U contributed tracks to NCT 2018 Empathy, a collaborative album with sub-units NCT 127 and NCT Dream. The release achieved global success, reaching the Top Ten in South Korea and the U.S. The group continued to evolve, with attention shifting to the China-based unit WayV. NCT U released "Coming Home" in December 2019, followed by the chart-topping NCT 2020 Resonance, Pt. 1 in 2020, featuring the hit single "Make a Wish (Birthday Song)." The project expanded with NCT 2020 Resonance, Pt. 2, which included tracks like "Misfit" and "Volcano."
In 2021, NCT's Universe project highlighted NCT U tracks like "New Axis" and "Universe (Let's Play Ball)." The group's 2023 album, Golden Age, showcased the sub-unit responsible for "The 7th Sense" with the track "Baggy Jeans."
